About Dr Chapman

Starting in the non-profit sector and continuing with Kaiser Permanente, Dr. Tracy Chapman has spent nearly 25 years delivering top-quality, compassionate therapeutic services throughout the Bay Area, from San Francisco to Oakland to San Jose.

Licensed since 2002, Dr. Chapman spent a majority of her career at Kaiser Permanente San Jose Medical Center, where she served as a staff psychologist in both the Behavioral Medicine and Psychiatry departments, as well as the clinical manager of the Intensive Outpatient Program, where she supervised a staff of licensed therapists, trained post-doctoral students, and oversaw care for a number of small-group programs. In each of her roles at Kaiser, Dr. Chapman worked to support clients who were coping with a range of issues including anxiety, depression, and health-related concerns, providing services for adults individually as well as within groups.

Known for her common sense, warmth, and down-to-earth professionalism, Dr. Chapman approaches each client as a unique individual on a highly personal journey, and views her primary role as a partner and a guide. After decades in the field, Dr. Chapman is able to draw on numerous evidence-based theoretical orientations and strategies to support each of her clients’ needs, while maintaining an approachable, non-judgmental manner.

An alumna of the University of Wisconsin Madison as well as the Minnesota School of Professional Psychology, Dr. Chapman has strong roots in the Midwest, but has also had the opportunity to live and work in a variety of geographical areas, both domestically and internationally. As a result of these experiences, Dr. Chapman developed at an early age a deep appreciation for diversity, multiculturalism, and the often profound impact that a person’s identity can have on the direction of his or her life. Outside of the office, Dr. Chapman spends time with her family enjoying the incredible beauty of the Bay Area—the ocean, the redwoods, and the amazing variety of food!
